Surprises :)
Twas a long day at work yesterday (has been for several weeks & months, actually :P) and at the end of the day, I decided to clear my mailbox -- something I don't do very regularly. Opened the overly full mailbox and saw a package from Australia right at the top. What a lovely surprise! (The writing on the envelope looked suspiciously like that of melisaurus ;) LOVE receiving snail mail -- it's so rare these days. Love receiving gifts too!
Opened the package and there was Paulo Coelho's Manual of the Warrior of Light and a card.
The card was lovely lovely -- it spoke of our crazy times of hanging out together when Melisaurus was in Singapore, especially one seriously strange cab ride we took back to Tanglin, where Mel stayed at, the cabdriver was driving like a nutter and we got seriously sick from all that spinning around and laughing so much because we couldn't do anything else to control the situation. Unforgettable!
A sign of true ageing - when cards and words are a lot more precious than gifts ;)
Have started reading Manual - there are some good insights on living life in a happy, serene, swimming-with-the-tide fashion, very philosophical.
One recurring idea which many philosophers, thinkers, writers et al seem to have a consensus on on our road to happiness is Acceptance. Once you accept what life dishes out at you, the good, bad, ugly, pretty, funny, strange etc, life's a lot easier to handle -- and happiness a lot more achievable.
Thank you Melisaurus, for being a good friend, across time, across distance, across continents. For being so thoughtful and caring, despite undergoing some very tough times yourself. Stay smiley & wonderful, babe! Here's a bunch of roses for you :)
